Q: Is this site affiliated with/run by the federal (or other) government?
A: No. Canadian-politics.com is an independent website run by a private citizen. It is not affiliated with any level of government or political party.
Q: I am having a problem with my EI benefits (or other government service or program). Can you help me?
A: No. Canadian-politics.com is a private, independent website. If you have any issues with a particular government department or service, please contact the relevant office nearest you. You can find that information in the blue pages of your local phone directory or online.
Q: Why can't I submit links for addition to the Directory?
A: Unfortunately, the Submit a New Link feature was being abused by spambots. The webmaster would frequently find over 100 spam links had been added overnight, and it was becoming increasing time-consuming to manually delete these links. If you would like to suggest a link for inclusion, please use the Feedback form.
Q: Why can't I edit content on pages? I thought this was a wiki.
A: Canadian-politics.com was migrated to a wiki format, but the owner of the site is hesitant to allow the content to be freely edited à la Wikipedia simply because this is a one-person operation and the owner doesn't have the time to closely monitor changes for potential abuse. However, interested persons can contact the owner using the Feedback form to volunteer to become site editors, which will allow them to update and edit content.
Q: Why can't I suggest questions for the FAQ?
A: Blame spammers. I did have that option turned on at first, but that resulted in over 10,000 spam "suggestions" being submitted - all of them links to porn or pharmaceutical sites. Not a single legitimate suggestion was put forward. As a one-person operation, I can't monitor the site 24/7, and so if you would like to suggest a question for inclusion in the FAQ, please use the feedback form in the Contact Us section.
Q: Why is there no section about municipal politics on this site?
A: The absence of information concerning municipal politics is a matter of time and personal interest. This site is largely a one-person operation, done as a hobby, and the webmaster simply doesn't have the time to develop a section on municipal politics. A few people have offered to provide content re: municipal politics, but have never actually delivered on that promise. If you would like to develop a section on municipal politics, use the feedback form to volunteer.
